Karl-Otto Apel: Vita e Pensiero / Leben und Denken

This monographic issue of Topologik is the first of a set of two volumes dedicated to KarlOtto Apel, one of the most important Maestros of twenty-first century philosophical thought. The issue is divided into two sections: the Life section and the Thought section. The first section (Life) is composed of contributions that are testimony to conversations, discussions and reflections with Karl-Otto Apel. The theoretical-philosophical aspect and the personal aspect give back the freshness and the profundity of the recounts and of the testimonies here present around the Thought and the Life of Karl-Otto Apel. Those who have known, and become friends with Apel, have lived the philosophical logos in its reflective breadth in symbiosis with a man who, in Habermas' opinion, incorporates the same philosophy. They lived the discursive force of a personality who made dialogue the tireless source of intersubjective research. Life and Thought are not two separate and separable sections, they are rather the evidence that the true philosophizing is constituted in the unity, precisely, of Life and Thought: in live the philosophy. The second section (Thought) ‒ Many, in the meantime, are the international studies on the thought of Karl-Otto Apel. The series of contributions and reflections presented here is a worldwide example of the vitality and fruitfulness of the thought of Karl-Otto Apel. Different experts, from different angles and perspectives that are anything but identical, critically confront themselves with Apel's transcendental pragmatics both as a proposal for a theoretical foundation and as an application platform for the real contexts of human life. It is a philosophical dialogue, rich in additional and alternative reflections, which testifies to the profound motivations that Karl-Otto Apel has been able to arouse in many philosophers and intellectuals, worldwide, with his transcendentalpragmatic transformation of Western philosophy. The ethics of discourse, as transcendental pragmatics or hermeneutical or semiotic pragmatics, is not only a new and original way of conceiving the philosophy of the West in its transformation in the third paradigm of the first philosophy; the ethics of discourse is also a radical philosophical thinking of re-appropriation of one's own presupposes (also linguistics), that can be traduced into a pragmatic ethics that demands foundation (discursive) and universality (intersubjective).

Questo numero monografico di Topologik è il primo di un insieme due volumi dedicati a Karl-Otto Apel, uno dei Maestri più importanti del pensiero filosofico del ventunesimo secolo. Il numero è suddiviso in due sezioni: sezione Vita e sezione Pensiero. La prima sezione (Vita) raccoglie contributi che sono testimonianza di incontri, discussioni, riflessioni comuni con Karl-Otto Apel. L’aspetto teorico-filosofico e l’aspetto personale ridanno la freschezza e la profondità dei racconti e delle testimonianze, qui presenti, intorno al Pensiero e alla Vita di Karl-Otto Apel. Quanti hanno conosciuto, e sono diventati amici di Apel, hanno vissuto il logos filosofico nella sua ampiezza riflessiva in simbiosi con un uomo che, a parere di Habermas, incorpora la stessa filosofia. Hanno vissuto la forza discorsiva di una personalità che ha fatto del dialogo la fonte instancabile della ricerca intersoggettiva. Vita e Pensiero non sono due sezioni separate e separabili, sono piuttosto la messa in evidenza che il filosofare vero si costituisce nell’unità, appunto, di Vita e Pensiero: nel vivere la filosofia. La seconda sezione (Pensiero) ‒ Molti sono, nel frattempo, gli studi internazionali sul pensiero di Karl-Otto Apel. La raccolta dei contributi e delle riflessioni che qui presentiamo è un esempio mondiale della vitalità e fruttuosità del pensiero di Karl-Otto Apel. Studiosi diversi, da angolazioni e prospettive tutt’altro che identiche, si confrontano criticamente con la pragmatica trascendentale di Apel sia come proposta di fondazione teoretica sia come piattaforma applicativa ai contesti reali della vita umana. È un dialogo filosofico, ricco di riflessioni aggiuntive e alternative, che testimonia le motivazioni profonde che Karl-Otto Apel ha saputo suscitare in molti filosofi e studiosi, mondialmente, con la sua trasformazione trascendentalpragmatica della filosofia occidentale. L’etica del discorso, come pragmatica trascendentale o pragmatica ermeneutica o semiotica, non è solo un modo nuovo e originale di concepire la filosofia dell’Occidente nella sua trasformazione in terzo paradigma della filosofia prima; l’etica del discorso è anche un pensare filosofico radicale di riappropriazione dei propri presupposti (anche linguistici), traducibile in una pragmatica etica, che reclama fondamento (discorsivo) e universalità (intersoggettiva).
